I have a new home on the web--JeanMarieWard.com!  From now on that's where you'll find all my news, information about books and articles, and events.  More free reads too.  But don't worry, Teri's talented husband, S.J. (aka S.J. Willing) and I will continue to maintain WardSmith.com as a tribute to Teri and her wonderful stories.

Hope to see you soon at JeanMarieWard.com

Sending a shout-out to all the friends and readers who'll be going to DragonCon this year. Although I haven't seen the final program yet, I understand I'll have panels in the Matters of the Force (Star Wars), Science Fiction & Fantasy Literature and Writing tracks. Come on by if you'd like me to sign a book or just say "Hi!"

Also, I'm on the roster for the Friends of the Beatley Library's Alexandria Authors Night on September 18. If my jabbering--er, the scintillating conversation offered by a group of Alexandria VA's finest authors isn't enough to tempt you, I understand there will be "light refreshments". IOW, you get cookies! The event runs from 7-8:30 p.m. and is open to the public. Please, call 703-519-3498 for more information. I'll post additional details as I receive them.

The Landmark Waldenbooks signing went great! The store sold out the books it ordered for the event, as well as the store copies, and received orders for more. Better yet, store manager Tracy McPeck said I was her favorite author. Ever!

I know she was exaggerating, but it was still sweet.

Those big grins you see on Stephen (left), Tracy (right) and me are the direct result of a really good booksigning. Okay, so maybe the strawberry-topped, chocolate mousse cake I brought for the staff may have had something to do with it. Next stop: Turn the Page Bookstore Café, Friday, April 27. Hope to see you there!

Booksignings

Please, join me at the Landmark Mall Waldenbooks in Alexandria, VA, from 1-5 p.m., Saturday March 31. There will be chocolate and a Wishstone raffle. No guarantees on the power of the crystal, but I can guarantee it will be given away in plenty of time for Easter.

If Alexandria, VA, is too far away, how about the April 27 signing at Turn the Page Bookstore Cafe in Boonsboro, MD, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.? No Wishstone, but Nora Roberts will be there, as well as the featured guests of the Washington Romance Writers' annual conference.

I'm excited not only because these are my first signings for With Nine You Get Vanyr, but because they're the start of an events calendar I hope will grow very full before the year is out. If you can't make the events, though, there's no need to feel left out of the loop. Our current contest offers the same goodies as the Landmark raffle and more. Don't forget to check it out.

You like us, you really do. Check out the buttons!

What they mean is the 2006 Preditors & Editors Reader's Poll rated With Nine You Get Vanyr's digital release as the number two science fiction/fantasy book of the year. The pink button means the readers and reviewers of Love Romances Café felt the same. I couldn't be more honored, and I'm sure Teri would feel the same.

It's here. The trade paperback version of With Nine You Get Vanyr is now available at My Bookstore and More and a bookstore near you. In honor of the occasion, we're offering two free bookmarks while supplies last.

The first features Anne Cain's luscious vision of Thea and Liz from With Nine You Get Vanyr. The second is a global warming bookmark distributed by the Scott County, MN, Office of Environmental Health. It boasts an unreasonably cute drawing by my very own dh, the dangerous mind behind Hail Dubyus, the most dangerous political cartoons on the Internet. Don't let that scare you, though. Both bookmarks are user-friendly across the political spectrum.

If you're interested, all you need to do is send me an email with your snail mail address from our Contact Page. Consider it my version of Mardi Gras parade favors. Techno-dummy that I am, I couldn't figure out how to make the beads lie flat in the envelopes. ;)

We're also holding a contest to celebrate our print release. The prizes are See our Contests Page for details.

Cheers and revels,
Jean Marie
